To all Kung Fu San Soo students:
Has your Kung Fu San Soo master ever told you that you could handle yourself in a street fight if you were ever in such a situation?
If your Kung Fu San Soo master has never told you that you're capable of handing yourself in a street fight then you should ask him. Why? Well, for one thing you're spending your money and most importantly your time with this man who is stating you're studying a martial art that is meant for life and death situations so you best know how you stand with your fighting skills since you're preparing for such a situation! Get the point?
If he says "yes," then ask him how does he know that. If your training consists of dealing with cooperative training partners who only throw a single punch and stand still while you attack it's not a good indicator you're prepared for a fight in the ring or cage and surely not in a street fight!
If he says "no," then drop him like a very bad habit (It would surprise me if a Kung Fu San Soo master said no)! At this point you should realize he's not going to make you a better fighter because Kung Fu San Soo is crap! Study the martial arts mentioned on this blog like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (self-defense type), Muay Thai, Sanda (San Shou), Pradal Serey, Lethwei, Sambo, Shoot Boxing, etc. Another thing, how much bag work and pad work do you do at your Kung Fu San Soo school? I'm willing to bet the majority (meaning almost all!) don't do bag work and pad work. As for the small percentage of Kung Fu San Soo schools that do bag work and pad work I guarantee it's not nearly close in quantity and quality like a Muay Thai or Kickboxing gym would complete.
Ask your Kung Fu San Soo master to perform rounds on mitts or pads. See if he can get through 3 rounds before having to fall on the ground from exhaustion. That'll tell you how good of shape this deadly Kung Fu San Soo master is in.
