Hello Everyone,

Another old blog post for the new blog!

Hasn't this blog provided a valid argument that there are more efficient and effective martial arts to study than Kung Fu San Soo? I believe so, I have provided a variety of martial arts that have proven themselves in the ring and/or cage. If a martial art doesn't have a history of success in the ring and/or cage then it's going to have a very hard time in the STREET going against one of these more effective and efficient martial arts.

Kung Fu San Soo vs. Muay Thai = I say Muay Thai wins (why doesn't a KFSS master go to Thailand and prove me wrong, the Thai people are happy to accept challenges and have been doing it a lot longer than the Gracie family)

Kung Fu San Soo vs San Da AKA San Shou = I say San Shou wins (the Chinese government wouldn't waste time developing an ineffective and inefficient martial art for the battlefield)

Kung Fu San Soo vs Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu = I say Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu wins (MMA fighter John Marsh would agree with me)

Kung Fu San Soo vs Sambo = I say Sambo wins (Fedor would agree with me if he saw KFSS training)

Kung Fu San Soo vs Muay Lao = Muay Lao wins (Muay Lao and Muay Thai are basically the same)

Kung Fu San Soo vs the other arts mentioned on this blog so far = the odds are not on Kung Fu San Soo's side.

An argument can be made and has been made by Kung Fu San Soo people that "it's the fighter not the style" that determines the outcome of the fight. I just can't believe that 100% for many reasons:

1) If "the fighter determines the fight and not the style" why doesn't the most athletic and strong and/or most experienced street fighter from the Kung Fu San Soo community just go straight into MMA or Glory Kickboxing competition and use all the legal techniques of Kung Fu San Soo minus the supposedly dangerous tactics (eye-gouges, biting, head butting, etc)? I'll tell you why, because the Kung Fu San Soo guy hasn't been taught the most effective and proper mechanics of throwing punches and kicks and would get humiliated or worse (killed) in those events.

2) If "the fighter determines the fight and not the style" then can it be said Royce Gracie would have won the 1st UFC by not using Gracie Jiu-Jitsu? I think all the REAL and SMART fighters know the answer would have been "probably not!" Gracie Jiu-Jitsu helped him beat the guys he faced in the first UFC because it's effective and efficient.

3) If "the fighter determines the fight and not the style" then any martial artist person should be able to compete in MMA or Kickboxing or Muay Thai events and do well, but we know the odds of that happening are very unlikely. There have been SOME exceptions like Andy Hug who came from a Karate background and competed in Kickboxing events, but eventually Andy Hug left Karate for good and only competed in Kickboxing events and trained in the Dutch Kickboxing style.

4) If "the fighter determines the fight and not the style" then all martial arts should be able to produce the same level of speed and power in punching and kicking ability. ALL REAL FIGHTERS KNOW THAT IS NOT TRUE! For example, can a Kung Fu San Soo master or high ranking black belt really believe he can kick with the same level of speed and power as a Muay Thai fighter? Only a delusional fool would believe such a thing! There are more reasons why I don't really agree with the comment the "fighter determines the fight and not the style." Fighting styles that teach techniques that are efficient and effective with speed and power are going to produce fighters with speed and power. Fighting styles that emphasize physical fitness are going to produce fighters with good levels of physical fitness. Fighting styles do matter in creating a good and REAL fighter
