Hello Everyone,
I've already written about Sanda (San Shou, San Da), but I want to talk about my experience with it. I'll never forget seeing Sanda in action against a Muay Thai fighter. I must admit the Sanda fighter destroyed the Muay Thai fighter. The Muay Thai fighter was a tall skinny white guy who was no joke, but he couldn't handle the shorter Sanda fighter that was using Sanda throws, sweeps, and takedowns against him.
*I truly believe Sanda is the BEST Chinese martial art for self-defense on the street, physical fitness, and fighting in the ring or cage. I really do! I just wish I had access to a Sanda school when I was young!
I also believe if more Sanda fighters took time to study BJJ and went into MMA they would do very well. I have come to the conclusion that Sanda mixed with BJJ is probably better than Muay Thai mixed with BJJ (I expect to catch hell for this comment! However, don't get me wrong, I love Muay Thai and the similar styles). Thing is, in America, there are very very very few legit Sanda schools in America. Americans are missing out on learning a real effective and efficient Chinese Martial Art that dominates against many styles of martial arts.
Of course, I'm going to say it. SANDA IS MUCH BETTER THAN KUNG FU SAN SOO!
You know why Sanda was even created? It's because traditional Chinese martial artists went to fight Thailand's Muay Thai fighters and got destroyed! The Chinese Government played a huge part in creating Sanda (back then they called it San Shou). They needed a fighting style that worked for their military and police forces and no doubt embarrassed to lose to Thailand's fighters! It happened more than once. I've already posted the article on the blog about the events in Thailand.
Want to know something else? The people that study martial arts in Hong Kong don't want to study the traditional Kung Fu styles. I read an article on how Kung Fu schools in China and Hong Kong are declining and the people that train want realistic shit like Muay Thai and Sanda.

The link above shows Muslim Salikhov (I've already made a post about this great fighter) in action using Sanda.
The video below is Kung Fu San Soo:

To any Kung Fu San Soo student or master that could watch the two videos above and come to the conclusion that Kung Fu San Soo is a better style than Sanda or even worse that a Kung Fu San Soo master is more trained to handle physical conflict I must say you're living in a fantasy world where you probably believe Santa Clause exists, along with the Easter Bunny, there's no evil in the world, and everyone is a good person at heart. I'm so glad I'm not one of you.
I truly believe the Chinese people that are interested in martial arts would choose Sanda for fighting, fitness, and self-defense than Kung Fu San Soo. I know I would!
