Hello Everyone,

I have watched videos of the founder of Kung Fu San Soo on youtube.  Jimmy H. Woo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck0kOBHfogI

The link above will show you a video of the man in action with his student's demonstrating Kung Fu San Soo.  Here are my thoughts.

One, first of all, most if not all of those takedowns, throws, and sweeps he performs would not work against a person trained in one of the fighting styles recommended on this blog.  Why?  It's due to the fact a trained fighter would not stand there while he tries to execute them.  In addition, I don't see how those san soo techniques would work when it defies the laws of physics.  Many of those takedowns, throws, and sweeps he performs would not work so well against a person who does not want to be taken down and will use his/her feet to move around.

Second, he has no good foundation for striking power.  His punches and kicks have no strong foundation to execute with speed and power to cause damage.  If he tried that stuff in a real fight he would not hurt his opponent, unless he targeted vulnerable parts of body like groin, eyes, and throat, but again, it doesn't require years of training nor would a smart person dish out thousands of dollars and spend years to learn to do such basic easy dirty fighting shit.

Third, how is it possible for a man who came to America at a young age to have such knowledge of a great hand to hand combat martial art system of thousands of techniques and forms and him knowing it all and being able to do it all?  Honestly, in my opinion, I really believe that Jimmy H. Woo knew a little bit of a certain martial art in China and added to it from other arts (God knows what) to create his own style to sell to Americans to make money and a living.  I really believe that!  There is no evidence of a martial art called Kung Fu San Soo (AKA Tsoi, Li, Ho, Fut, Hung Five Family) in China.  I know the san soo cult guys say the Japanese Army killed all the san soo fighters and burnt the books in China, but I doubt that's the reason because then we would never have heard about the Japanese Army destroying San Soo at all.  When people are fucking annihilated they are never known to others at all.  Jimmy H. Woo supposedly brought two ancient Chinese fighting manuals from China.  I call bullshit.  No one has ever seen what's inside the books (to my knowledge).

Fourth, there are videos of Bruce Lee training and working out.  Videos of him punching bags and kicking shields.  Bruce Lee was fast and trained hard.  He didn't hesitate to work to make himself better as a martial artist.  He didn't think he was above his students in prestige so he trained in front of others and sweated and took strikes from his students in sparring.  May God bless him and watch over his soul.  He changed martial arts forever.  You know what?  The same goes for many teachers and coaches in the fighting styles recommended on this blog.  The legit teachers and coaches in the striking styles recommended on this blog still train hard on the bag and pads and spar and workout to stay in shape.  I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I SEE IT A LOT.  THEY DON'T GET HUNG UP ON BELT RANKINGS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO BELT RANKINGS.  THE ONLY BELTS THAT MATTER ARE THE ONES YOU IN THE RING (OR CAGE, DEPENDING IF YOU DO MMA).  NOR DO THEY GET SO HUNG UP ON TITLES LIKE GRAND MASTER SHIT!  There are teaching titles like Kru and Ajarn in Muay Thai, but those are used very carefully (You really have to earn that title).  THE SAME GOES FOR THE GRAPPLING STYLES.  I'VE GRAPPLED WITH BLACK BELT BJJ INSTRUCTORS AND DID MY BEST TO MAKE IT HARD FOR THEM TO TAP ME (THEY ALWAYS END UP TAPPING ME UNLESS I CAN MAKE IT TO THE END OF THE CLOCK).

There may not be a superior fighting style that we can agree on, but there are fighting styles that have a history of doing well in the ring and/or cage.  There are fighting styles that are sought out by professional fighters to use in kickboxing promotions or MMA promotions.  Why?  It is due to the fact that they work well against a non-cooperative opponent.  It really makes my blood boil when I hear traditional martial arts like kung fu san soo teachers and students say that fighting in competition is different in the ring so some martial arts are better for the street while the ones used in the ring are at a disadvantage.  That doesn't make any sense, a Sanda fighter may not practice striking the groin, but he sure as hell can strike fast and hard because he trains hard so when he finds himself in a fight it won't be difficult to strike vulnerable areas on the enemy's body.

Now that I have confirmed the event at Culver City Arena in 1975 took place from two san soo masters I can state this...for Jimmy H. Woo to take such steps to try to vote out one of his high ranking black belt masters just because 5 of his san soo students got beaten and humiliated shows he didn't know or understand something that all REAL FIGHTERS KNOW...which is you're never going to win all your fights you fight in.  Why?  It's impossible.  You think the best Boxers, Muay Thai fighters, Sanda Fighters, Dutch Kickboxers, BJJ artists, Sambo fighters, etc. stay undefeated?  No, they don't because victory is never guaranteed no matter how you try to put Sun Tzu's strategies into place.  Shit in Life happens.  I find it hard to believe that even people that have gotten into street fights multiple times stay undefeated.

I truly believe Jimmy H. Woo wanted to make sure San Soo had a reputation for being too violent and only used for street fighting so his students and masters wouldn't have to or want to prove their skill in the ring so he could continue to get more people to learn from him.  In other words, it was his way to get more money.

No real fighter can expect to rely on the element of surprise or can expect to win on the basis of delivering a sucker punch.  That is a big mistake.

Now that I'm older now and not getting younger I see what matters which is...talk is bullshit, titles are bullshit, thoughts are bullshit, it's what you do (take action) that matters!  All the talk of "our style is only meant for self-defense and can't be used in competition because it's too deadly," "I'm a master who has studied for (many years) and I have this (dumb looking) uniform with this belt and all these degrees" "I know about real fighting and can teach a real fighting style called san soo (These types of people are not going to be able to go 5 rounds on pads because they aren't fit for fighting)."

I honestly feel if Jimmy H. Woo was in his prime and he got in the ring against a Muay Thai fighter from Thailand back in his day he would be humiliated or killed.  The Thais aren't afraid of titles in rank, or belt colors, or stories.  The same goes for other practitioners of the fighting styles recommended on this blog.
