Defensive Tactics (DT) is a term used by U.S. Law Enforcement (LE) agencies (local, state, federal, tribal) to teach the self-defense and physical arrest aspects to LE officers such as punches, kicks, takedowns, hand-cuffing, grappling, etc.
I can tell you that academies (around the U.S.) are teaching LE officers techniques from the fighting styles on this blog (most of the academies). I have been receiving comments that an agency is using techniques from san soo. First off, if that's true, prove it. Show me video, let's see the officers in action using san soo techniques. Second, just because a DT instructor is using san soo techniques to teach to police cadets doesn't mean anything.
MOST IMPORTANT: IF A PERSON WANTS TO LEARN SELF-DEFENSE THEN STUDY THE FIGHTING STYLES THAT TRAIN PROFESSIONAL KILLERS USE! This is a saying that even Joe Rogan would agree with. MEANING, STUDY THE FIGHTING STYLES ON THIS BLOG BECAUSE GETTING READY FOR A FIGHT IN THE RING OR CAGE AGAINST A NON-COOPERATIVE OPPONENT IS THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR SOMEONE IN A SELF-DEFENSE SITUATION.
It doesn't make sense to say a style cannot help a person win in the ring or cage, but can be used when someone is trying to hurt you in the street.
TO THE READERS OF THIS BLOG: Look what is happening around the world, certain martial arts are more popular than others. Certain martial arts are increasing in popularity while others are in decline. The fighting styles recommended on this blog are the ones increasing in popularity.
IS SAN SOO INCREASING IN POPULARITY? ARE PEOPLE LIKE EVERYDAY MOTHERS, WHITE COLLAR WORKERS, AND MILLENIALS MAKING MARTIAL ARTS LIKE SAN SOO MORE POPULAR? Nope...they're going to the gyms that teach styles like Muay Thai, BJJ, Sambo, Boxing, Kickboxing, Judo, even Lethwei is becoming more popular in America (Thanks Joe Rogan for the Podcast with David Leduc).
