Hello Everyone,

There are many people that say they want to fight.  Whether it be in the ring, cage, or street.  Guess what?  A lot of those people are full of shit!  Very few people actually want to fight in the ring or cage, let alone the street.  There are going to be people that workout to get good physiques, bring attention to themselves by trying to look and talk like bad asses, and make comments like "I want to compete, I feel this martial art is too traditional and stuck in its ways so I'm going to study something else so I can satisfy my hunger to compete!"  Guess what...again, they're usually full of shit!

Very few people have the technique, skills, heart, AND most important DISCIPLINE to be fighters in the ring and cage.  A lot of people talk about wanting to fight, but deep down they don't really mean it.  I can spot these people pretty easily now through my experience in Muay Thai and BJJ.

It's hard to fight, you have to do a lot of this (don't let the music fool you, it's never glorious):

A lot of this (this is what usually puts the talkers in their place and they STFU or quit training):

BUT what really matters is what you do when this time comes:

One of the many things I like about the striking styles recommended on this blog is that there are no real ranks or belt levels*.  It's what you do in the ring that matters.  It doesn't matter how long you have studied or how many black belt strips you have.  All your talking is done in the ring.  For the people that don't want to fight in the ring or cage you'll still learn effective fighting and you can help others in their training and not become a person that talks shit (you will become humbled).

*Ranking is of course important in BJJ, Judo, and other good grappling styles.

If a person from another martial art walks into a Kickboxing, Pradal Serey, Muay Thai, Sanda, Lethwei gym, etc. and thinks their rank of master or 7th degree black belt is going to make them able to take on those fighters then...never mind that person will learn the hard way.
