I've touched on this subject in a previous blog post a long time ago, but going to cover it again.

Gang members.  Don't matter what nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.  Gang members are do bad things to good people.  Period.  I'm not going to mention any gang names, but if you watch the news you'll know the names of notorious gangs or if you're from a rough area you can think of a few yourself.  Anyway, gang members fight and they do train.  Don't believe me?  I've seen a father who was tattooed up (showing his gang loyalty) bringing his daughter to BJJ class.  I've talked to BJJ and Muay Thai instructors who say they've seen an increase of gang members wanting to learn their style.  If you remember the riots in Paris, France years ago you would see Muay Thai being used on innocent people by the gangs (Muay Thai is huge in France).

If people who deal with violence in their constant life (i.e. Gangs) and seek violence shouldn't that be a lesson on what really works?  Gang members are not going to choose martial arts that are not going to work, but have shown to work and that are simple and effective.  It doesn't surprise me gang members focus on Muay Thai techniques for fighting.  For years, gangs have boxed and continue to do it, why not add a few more weapons?  That's why they choose Muay Thai.  It's scary that something beautiful and good (Muay Thai) could be used for bad.
