Another real effective and efficient fighting style is Shootboxing. Japan's Shootboxing is very similar to
China's Sanshou/Sanda, but allows more grappling techniques (like Korea's Kyuk Too Ki).
Training in this fighting style will no doubt provide excellent fighting skills that are not "play fighting." Shootboxing has helped people make it on to the greatest striking promotion (not MMA promotion) ever which was K-1! Can Kung Fu San Soo provide a person with excellent striking skills to make it in the ring? Hell No!
I said it on the old blog and I'll say it here on the new blog...If Kung Fu San Soo can't help a person deal with fighting with rules in the ring or cage then how the hell is it going to help you out in the street?!?
