Hello Everyone,

A good documentary series called Warriors of the Mongkon truly shows several aspects of Muay Thai.  I just hope a series could be made about the other Southeast Asian fighting styles recommended on this blog.  Anyway, when I watch the series I think about how Muay Thai truly gives realistic fighting skills to the average person.  kung fu san soo for self defense?  kung fu san soo for fighting?  Give me a break, kung fu san soo sucks and can't hold a candle to Muay Thai.  Never will be able to hold ground against Muay Thai.  kung fu san soo is not a sophisticated fighting style that can compare.  the supposed kung fu san soo "masters" better get on their knees and pray to whatever God they believe in to give thanks that they can get away with selling themselves as a "master" while the real fighters and teachers of Muay Thai in Thailand train hard and fight for real!

TO EVERY KUNG FU SAN SOO "MASTER" I WANT TO ASK YOU THIS..."How does it feel to know you can get away with calling yourself a master and never prove you're actually skilled at real fighting?"

Here is the link to the series.  Enjoy and learn the power and supremacy of Muay Thai!

Hello Everyone,

If you have the time, watch this documentary on Lethwei.  Ask yourself, when these Lethwei fighters get in the ring do they train for their opponent to throw one punch and then stand in the same position while the defender throws 8 to 10 strikes.  No, they don't.  They train hard to physically and mentally prepare for their opponent to strike back and continue to fight unless they're able to KO the guy.  If they don't KO their opponent then the fight ends in a draw.

kung fu san soo training doesn't prepare anyone for a real fight.  Period.  Fighting styles like Lethwei, Pradal Serey, Dutch Kickboxing, Sambo, Pankration, etc. prepare people to deal with non-cooperative opponents.

Watch at least 5 san soo videos on youtube and you'll see absolute absurdity that I'm referring to about the training.

Anyway, below is the documentary on Lethwei.

Hello Everyone,

The following post was written by a man named ron gatewood.  A person I've had some issues with in the past and who doesn't think too highly of me for my position on kung fu san soo.  Anyway the following was written by him.  I'm going to show just parts of his article...

I am very disappointed when I hear students say Kung Fu San Soo is very limited so I am going to leave it and find other arts so I can compete with anyone. They refuse to understand our art is very complex however they have not entered the the mind portion of San Soo...
Aha!  The crappy art of kung fu san soo is complex!  He admits it!  He doesn't state it's an efficient art, but complex!  Who wants to spend money something that's complex to learn that won't give you a good return on investment like the styles recommended on this blog?  No one should.
They say “I learned San Soo from “Goody Two Shoes, you think you are superior because you learned First Generation, Second is better because it has more variety”. Well, you just told me something, you are not to smart, you never broke the surface of his knowledge. Am I superior no but I am smarter in San Soo than they are, I don’t usually say this but I am the second highest belt promoted by Grand Master Woo, does that mean I am good, not really, it means I put in my time learning.
So you say you're smarter in San Soo than others?  Second highest belt promoted by Woo? OOOOOKKKKAAAYYYYY...….who cares!  That does not mean anything Ron!  What do you have to show for it?  What does san soo have to show for it?  Nothing!  Just talk, talk, and more talk.  San Soo IS NOT respected in the martial arts community for the people that know about it!  You say you put in the time to learning this crappy art?  Good for you!  What does the art have to show for it?  I got an answer. Nothing!
I don’t have many years left and I feel a big responsibility to pass on the gold the Grand Master taught in order that we preserve his art for future generations. Many lacked any thinking depth and broke away from the true roots and mixed many arts without a recipe. They have made our art a joke on YouTube. I have heard them say they don’t use windmills, over used sounds, the twirly twisty crap, their armbars are 1000 times better, none of us knows how to break a arm because our work out is all fake.
Thank you for admitting the san soo videos are a joke on youtube.  You read it here from "master" ron gatewood.  Where are the real san soo videos that show true san soo?  He doesn't show them and doesn't provide any names.
You must decide what your reason for learning is, you want pure ring combat go somewhere else, ground work, try wrestling or Jiu Jitsu, but for street protection I will still stay with San Soo.
Too late, this art has already been bad mouthed and can't hold a candle to fighting styles on this blog.  It may have protected you in your law enforcement career, but I can tell you this art is no good.
All information that would help you defeat or neutralize a threat may not be taught in many schools because they come from higher levels of scientific research there are also tells when someone is about to attack which will give you a heads up.
Well, you read the whole article, words and words, no videos or any argument to show how san soo is an effective art because it isn't.  For crying out loud, he admits the art is complex.  There are no secrets to fighting, none.  Human beings still have two arms and legs and one head like they have had since the dawn of man.  Human beings still have emotions and are unpredictable.  There are no secrets to fighting and no fighting style has some secrets to win in a fight. san soo doesn't hold anything over any styles and has no history of success when it's used in ring or cage combat.  How the hell does it expect to win in the street?  Study the fighting styles on this blog and you can't go wrong.

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I was bored at the airport so I went to the youtube website and watched some Lethwei fights.  It's one of the fighting styles recommended on this blog.  Lethwei fighters use punches, kicks, elbows, knees, clinches, and headbutts to win a fight.  The only way to win a fight is by knockout or else it's a draw.  Fighters are not allowed to wear gloves, just hand wraps.  A Lethwei fight does not look as pretty as Muay Thai, but it sure as Hell doesn't hold back the blood and violence.

I want the readers of this blog to do something for me....First, go to youtube.com and watch as many Kung Fu San Soo videos of KFSS "masters" and other black belt ranked students.  Second, watch any Lethwei fight on youtube, but just watch one video of a Lethwei fight.  Third, ask yourself this question..."can any student of KFSS really expect to deal with someone who trains in a fighting style like Lethwei in the ring?"  If the answer is NO then how the HELL can anyone conclude a student of KFSS can protect oneself against a fighting style like Lethwei in the street?  I get it, KFSS "masters" say there are no rules in the street, but nothing will stop a Lethwei practitioner from fighting without rules either!  There's another ridiculous saying used by KFSS guys that "you fight like you train."  Guess what!  To all KFSS "masters", you train like you're preparing for a bad straight to DVD martial arts flick where you're not even fighting, but "play fighting."

To all KFSS "masters", stop lying to yourselves and stop lying to people that walk into your schools to learn how to defend themselves.  You're not doing them any favors, but giving people false hope and bad techniques that are going to get themselves killed.  Study the fighting styles recommended in this blog and you'll be in much better position to defend oneself in the street.

Also, there is a website forum called "American San Soo."  There is a discussion about me and the old blog, etc.  Remember this, this blog is here and I'm still writing posts.  I will continue to write posts, because I feel my position is correct and certainly those guys haven't provided any evidence that kung fu san soo is an effective and efficient fighting style.  They can continue to live in their dream world where kung fu san soo is a superior fighting style and they're experience in the (crap) art and their "rank" in the (crap) art give them knowledge of a battle hardened fighter (sarcasm).  Deep down, when you watch youtube videos you know what kung fu san soo is...it's crap, it sucks, and it's a complete joke.

Hello Everyone,

I received an email from a reader who wanted to have me discuss my relationship with the art of Kung Fu San Soo AKA The Art of Crap AKA The Art that Sucks AKA The Art that has tried to be on the same level of effectiveness as the styles recommended on this blog.  The reader wanted to share my experience with the art, why I have problems with it, etc.

Listen, This blog is filled with posts (many came from the old blog) that explain my issue with crappy KFSS and why I consider it not an effective martial art.  I'm sorry, but I'm not going to explain to one person in an email everything I've experienced with this art, etc. when this blog already tells my issues with the art.  Anyway, I barely have time to keep up with the blog so I'm not going to communicate with one person when I can communicate with countless other people by running the blog.  Anyway, I was doing some training today and had a good workout.  How many KFSS schools really get their students prepared for a fight by focusing on physical exercises like bodyweight exercises, jump rope, medicine ball, etc.?  Not many, if any of them do at all I promise you they are also teaching techniques from the styles recommended on this blog because if KFSS was such a good style why bother teaching other styles?  Get it?  It's because KFSS is not a good style at all.

Again, focus on the styles recommended on this blog and you can't go wrong!  You'll get supreme physical and mental fitness along with efficient and effective techniques that have proven against non cooperative opponents in the ring and cage.

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope 2020 is going to be a great year for everyone.

Let me start by saying I'm now recently been able to get back into the hard training schedule in some of the fighting styles I recommend on this blog.

Understand this, I have received some not so kind emails regarding this blog, but also some very sympathetic emails too.  Thank you for your words.

I recently came into ownership of a book called H2H Hand to Hand Combat by Greg Thompson.  Greg Thompson is the creator of SOCP (Special Operations Combatives Program) that has been used by the U.S. Army, etc.  I'm not going to go into how and why I came into the ownership of the book for certain reasons, but let me say I was absolutely surprised how obvious the majority of the techniques were from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Muay Thai.

Now here is a perfect example that supports my argument on this blog.  If a man who has been sought out to train U.S. military and law enforcement personnel uses these techniques and the U.S. military approves then shouldn't the average guy who isn't in the military use them too to defend himself in a fight?  Heaven forbid he decides to waste time and money studying a crappy art (San Soo) and coming across a guy who knows the fighting styles recommended on this blog in the street.
